![]() ![]() If you want to add another sound file for the event to choose from, then place a comma at the end of the line and type a new sound file path.Ĥ. " /assets/minecraft/sounds/ instruments/bass.ogg" This is why their path in the sounds.json file is " instruments/bass", etc. Remember earlier, my note block instrument sounds were saved inside the ' instruments/.' folder. It does not include the '.ogg' file extension. ogg file, starting at ' /assets/minecraft/sounds/.'. This is a simple list item that will be chosen at random when the sound event is run. This means that any items in the square brackets are list items.įor custom sounds, it means that the sound event (1) will pick a random list item (3) (aka sound file) to play every time the sound event is run.ģ. These square brackets (' ') in Json show a list. If you only use those characters, you can name it anything you want, you don't have to follow my ' custom.' name scheme.Ģ. The only characters that are allowed are "a-z" ( lowercase), "0-9", any of "/._-" & no spaces. This name will be the one used in your '/playsound ' command. This is where you give a name for your custom sound. The second one will use more advanced features like random weights, volume & pitch adjustments & what sound streaming is.ġ. The first one will be a basic version if you just want to add your own custom sounds into MC, showing sound events with & without random variation. I will be showing 2 examples of a 'sounds.json' file. Make sure you roughly remember your sound paths for later.įolders and files only allow lowercase letters from 1.11+. Your custom sounds will then be added to the ' sounds' subfolder (seen above).įor my example, I've created an ' instruments/.' subfolder containing 3 note block instrument sound files, as well as the player xp levelup sound directly in ' sounds/.'. You will need to save your ' sounds.json' file at ' /assets/minecraft/sounds.json' There are two parts to adding custom sounds to your resource pack. I believe it works in all of them up until the current version. I am aware of SharedMedia and know HOW to add custom sounds, I'm more looking for WHAT to add in.This tutorial is for MC version 1.7.2 and above. I've also discovered HearKitty and love the sound design of that but need it for other abilities as well. I wouldn't want to download sounds from multiple places if some are low quality or louder/quieter than others. It would also be nice to have easily looping sounds that can alert me if efflorescence needs to be cast but is easy to tune out if the fight doesn't call for it.Īre there any add-ons or resources that could provide these sounds in an easy to use way? Ideally, I'd like to have a lot of sounds to choose from from one source, with consistent quality and volume. The default sounds that come with WA and other add-ons are often annoying or not easy to mentally associate with an ability. So I want to switch to custom sounds that will be distinct and easy to hear. This has also been exasperated by using bigwigs where the soft dings and chimes get drowned out in the text to speech talking. Adding more and more has become an issue, though, as they cannot overlap with each other and often get delayed by a few seconds if a lot is happening. I discovered the text to speech feature in WeakAura a couple weeks ago (chat message->text-to-speech for those interested) to take some of the visual load off and notify me about important CDs and abilities that need to be cast. I have a hard time looking at my ability CDs, dots, procs, boss abilities, hots, and group HP all at once in the middle of fights. ![]()
